Courses: First Aid at Work (FAW) 4-Day Course
This course covers the legal, theoretical and practical issues
relating to First Aid at work, as well as a host of basic first aid
techniques vital to any First Aider. No previous knowledge of first
aid is necessary, but time for home study to get the most out of this
course is essential. We would recommend a minimum of one hour revision
per night. Certificates are valid for three years. First Aid At Work (FAW) 2-Day Refresher Course
To be taken before the expiry of an FAW certificate in order to
continue your qualification. This course, consisting of theoretical
and practical work, will update and refresh your knowledge of First
Aid at work. As with the FAW 4-Day course, the certificate is valid
for three years. |

Appointed Persons This course deals with the everyday emergency care of an injured patient, covering issues such as resuscitation, burns, fractures and more. Certificates are valid for three years. The course runs for eight hours (1 Day). Appointed Persons for Childcarers This course is aimed at registered childminders and people who are regularly in contact with children, and runs for eight hours. It is very similar to the Appointed Persons course, but aimed at children rather than adults. The course is recognised and approved by the Wales pre-school Playgroup Association. Certificates are valid for three years. Emergency Aid This course covers only the essentials of emergency care for the unconscious patient and resuscitation for an adult. It is up-to-the-minute in content and practical in its delivery, and runs for four hours. Certificates are valid for three years.

Risk Assessment: Load Management This course details the legal aspects of Manual Handling, providing background to legislation, and outlines employer and employee responsibilities. The course is laid out as a workshop, with theory and discussion sessions totalling four hours. Manual Handling: Object Handling This course details legal and practical aspects of handling inanimate loads, providing background to legislation, and outlines employer and employee responsibilities. The course includes theory and discussion as per All Wales Manual Handling Training Passport and Information Scheme. The course runs for eight hours. Attention is given to storage and handling in order to bring forward the importance of “Looking ahead” and “Thinking for others”. Manual Handling: People Handling This course details legal aspects of Manual Handling with people, providing background to legislation, and outlines employer and employee responsibilities. Attention is given to the “Controversial Lifting Practices” whilst delivering both legislative and practical sessions. The course includes theory and discussion as per All Wales Manual Handling Training Passport and Information Scheme. The course runs for 2 days. Manual Handling: Train the Trainer
Again, following the All
Wales Manual Handling Training Passport and Information Scheme,
time is given to methods of instruction; legislative, theoretical and
practical work. This course is aimed at giving the student sufficient
information to be able to train ‘in-house’ under the direction of
their Health & Safety supervisors. The course runs for four days. |

Health & Hygiene in the Workplace This course is designed to reinforce legislation laid down by the HSE and EC directives, and explain the problems associated with both blood borne and airborne infection. The content of the course is solely dependant on the type of work in which the student is involved, and also the type of environment in which the work is being carried out. Specific requests for certain subjects to be covered are acceptable and we will cater the course to fit your needs as closely as possible. Breathing Apparatus Training Using qualified staff trained at the Fire Service College, Moreton in the Marsh, we are able to offer companies up-to-date training in the use and safe systems of work for Breathing Apparatus. Fire Awareness / Warden Training Whether you work in a shop, factory or office block, the Workplace Regulations require that staff are made aware of their responsibilities in case of fire and what to do to reduce the risk of fire at their place of work. We can ensure staff are trained to the required standard.
