Protection of Children (PoCA)

This course is aimed at any individual who will be working with children in any area of the care profession. It is designed to highlight the importance of being able to spot and react to situations where child abuse may have taken place.

Course Content:

-    Roles & Responsibilities when working with vulnerable groups
-    Safeguarding authorities
-    Child Protection Legislation
-    Extent of Child Abuse
-    Types of abuse
-    Acts of abuse
-    Spotting Abuse Exercise
-    Information Gathering
-    Reporting Methods
-    Policies & Procedures

Pre Entry Course Requirements:

  • Suitable candidate in the Care Industry
  • No formal qualification needed, but a reasonable level of learning abilities will be beneficial
  • Maximum of 12 Candidates

Course Duration:

  • Candidates are Required to obtain a minimum of four contact hours training.
  • Course Times are either 09.00-14.00 or 12.00-17.00.

Certification

  • One Year Certificate in PoCA (Protection of Children Act)
  • Assessments will be ongoing with a written assessment at the end of the course.
